Abstract

Community Radio Refugee Awareness Week 2019 aims to inspire conversations with European communities and audiences in the hope for critical engagement and reflection on issues of global migration and international displacement. The initiative sees groups of asylum seekers spanning Europe, collaborating online to create 3 hours of broadcast-quality multimedia content with 50 community radio broadcasting partners throughout Europe. Multicultural and multilingual, the projects pedagogical approach is rooted in situated learning & highlighting the potential of social media and considers participatory learning as an ideal for learners to discover ways of being global citizens through the medium of radio and 21st-century skills.
