Abstract
How can open access, text and data mining be best facilitated?  How would copyright law be redesigned if we were starting with a blank page?  And will new models of creativity emerge or be stifled by legal restrictions?

About the Speaker
 Dr Darius Whelan is Senior Lecturer in UCC’s School of Law and Director of UCC’s LLM in Intellectual Property and E Law.  With Dr Louise Crowley, he is one of the public leads of Creative Commons Ireland (http://www.creativecommonsireland.org), which is based at UCC School of Law.  He is co-Director of UCC’s IT Law Clinic (https://www.ucc.ie/en/lawsite/currentstudents/it-law-clinic/).  He contributes seminars to modules on Intellectual Property & Internet Regulation and Law of Cybercrime
