Dear Paul, February 11, 1975
At our meeting on February 1, we considered the request from EVERYMAN for a temporary reduction from 15% to 10% of box-office receipts as their contribution towards the hiring of the Hall, the £75 minimum rental continuing to apply.

Because EVERYMAN feel it necessary to make such a request and also because they are so frequently behind time in payment, it may well be that they are finding the Contract more onerous than anticipated. The Managing Director has not said this in so many words, but it would seem to be one of their more serious difficulties.

From the documents you sent me, it is not possible to abstract a complete set of figures. Apart from whatever amount is still outstanding, you have actually received a total sum of £5,010.81. Allowing for expenditure (proportionate cost of rates, light, heating , etc), I think the excess of income would be considered worth while, probably much above the general income prior to commencement of the Contract. If that is the case, then it would certainly be to our mutual interest and advantage that EVERYMAN be able to continue in operation and be solvent. That is the reason why we decided that it might be wise to discuss the financial situation with EVERYMAN.

We have appointed Fr. Brendan and yourself to meet some of their representatives. The Definitory will give favourable consideration to whatever recommendations merge from this review are put forward as a result of these discussions. In the meetings, it would be well to prepare a summary of expenditure for the period of the lease. I know that you are extremely busy at present on account of the Feis. There should not be any great problem in getting the different items of expenditure from the account books.
Wishing you success in your work and every blessing,
Fraternally,
