Exploring the Irish Theatre Ballet

Exploring the Irish Theatre Ballet

A rich new Omeka/Neatline site explores the life of the Irish Theatre Ballet.

This fascinating story is revealed through a rich archive now accessible and carefully crafted by members of the BA in Digital Humanities and Information Technology at UCC.

This archive contains a collection of over 365 assorted ephemera tracing the history of the Irish Theatre Ballet. Hosted in collaboration with Cork City Libraries, you can discover key figures throughout the archive such as Joan Moriarty, Stanley Judson and Charles Lynch, from the founding of Ireland’s first professional ballet company – Irish Theatre Ballet – in 1959 to its disbandment in 1964. The company was a multinational group that travelled across Ireland, before merging with the Dublin company leading to the founding of the Irish National Ballet Company .
