Call for Papers – Crediting Canada: Canada as an Economic World Leader at the British Association for Canadian Studies – 3-5 April 2013 in London

The British Association for Canadian Studies invites proposals for its 2013 meeting with a particular interest in the theme ‘Crediting Canada: Canada as an Economic World Leader’. The conference will take place in London 3-5 April at the refurbished Canada House on Trafalgar Square and the Eccles Centre of the British Library. Proposals should be sent by December 31 to: Jodie Robson, BACS Administrator bacs@canadian-studies.org. Conference theme: Canada was widely credited with avoiding the worst of the (ongoing) 2008 sub-prime recession by virtue of a prudent and robust banking system. Call for Papers – Canadian Network for Economic History Sessions at the 2013 CEA Meetings – May 30th-June 2nd in Montreal

The Canadian Network for Economic History invites anyone wishing to present a paper at a CNEH session at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Canadian Economics Association to submit an abstract by Friday, February 15, 2013. Abstracts of no more than 250 words must be submitted through the online registration form for paper presenters on the CEA website at: http://economics.ca/2013/en/submit.php Under the “Affiliation” section of the submission form, authors should select “Canadian Network for Economic History.” For more information please contact Frank Lewis at: lewisf@econ.queensu.ca

Call for Proposals for Canadian Junior Scholar Travel Award – 7th World Congress of Cliometrics

As a co-sponsor of the 7th World Congress of Cliometrics in Honolulu Hawaii, USA, June 18-21 2013, the Canadian Network for Economic History (CNEH) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for a Canadian Junior Scholar Travel Award. Consideration for this award is open to all pre-tenure scholars employed at a Canadian institution; doing research on a Canadian topic; and/or holding Canadian citizenship. The award will be used to help defray the winning applicant’s costs to travel to the 2013 World Congress. Call for Papers – 7th World Congress of Cliometrics

The 7th World Congress of Cliometrics will be held in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, USA from June 18-21, 2013. The Congress will be hosted and supported by the University of Hawai‘i-Mānoa. All sessions will be held at the Imin Conference Center on the campus of the East-West Center (adjacent to the University of Hawai‘i-Mānoa campus). All are invited to attend. CHEH Talks at the 2012 Canadian Economics Association (CEA)

The Canadian Network for Economic History (CNEH) is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring two sessions on Saturday 9th of June at the 46th Meetings of the Canadian Economics Association (CEA) at the University of Calgary, Alberta. The CNEH wishes to extend an invitation to all those at this year’s CEA to come to the CNEH sessions. Session CNEH I is titled Trade, Transport, Manufacturing and Wealth During the Golden Age of Globalization. Session CNEH II is titled The Role of Government in Economic History. Alan G. Green Memorial Fund for Economic History at Queen’s

Alan Green died on November 3 2010, in Kingston, Ontario, at the age of 78.
