Call for Papers: Record Linking Workshop

May 11-13 2017Submissions are invited to a workshop on linking historical records at the University of Guelph, Canada, May 11-13 2017. We are interested in all aspects of historical record linking from the perspective of social and data science, history, social medicine and digital humanities with a particular interest in link metrics especially regarding bias among the linked records. On the Status and Future of Economic History in the World

by Jörg Baten and Julia Muschallik (University of Tübingen) In spite of a rapid globalization of our discipline, surprisingly little is known about economic history as a discipline and the scholars who are representing it: How many economic historians are there in the world? In which countries or world regions are they concentrated, and where are they lacking? Can we explain differences in the number of economic historians who are participating on world congresses, and which determinants encourage or limit participation propensity? We also provide a forecast of world congress participation in 2012. This study is based on the first initiative to estimate the extent of the field in the world. Call for Papers for the 2015 CNEH Conference – Friday, October 16 – Sunday October 18, 2015 Kingston, Ontario

The Canadian Network for Economic History invites proposals for the 50th anniversary conference to be held on October 16-18, 2015 at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Papers will be considered on all topics, with some preference given to those relating to the theme, Mobility and Demographic Change. The CNEH is pleased to announce that Joseph Ferrie (Northwestern) will give the keynote address and Martha Bailey (Michigan) will give the Mary MacKinnon Memorial Lecture. There will be a reception to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the conference on the evening of October 16.
