The Digital Arts + Humanities Active Learning Space

Designed and deployed in 2015 to serve the growing Digital Arts + Humanities community at University College Cork, the DAH ALS offers a unique and customisable space for innovation and critical thinking.

The design process involved careful consideration of effective spaces from around the world

We reflected on those spaces we had experienced in the past and what made them work and where we might make them even better. We could not be more pleased with the result, but it’s always important to remember from whence it came.

We were inspired by the HUmLab in Umea, the DH space at UVA and the cafe’s that we enjoyed as informal inspirational spaces. In consultation with the brilliant folks at estates we were thrilled to find a means to balance, budget, aspirations and institutional requirements.

As the space began to evolve we enjoyed a look behind the scenes.
