Welcome

Digital Arts and Humanities at UCC provides opportunities for students to explore how the “digital” is changing the face of “arts and humanities”. Students on the programme seek to discover what is it to be human in the digital age, and the answers will help to shape how we see ourselves and others in an age where humanity is becoming increasingly connected by ubiquitous technology.

We offer programmes in the Digital Arts and Humanities at the BA, MA and PhD level.

Our BA in Digital Humanites and Information Technology is Ireland’s only programme at this level. Graduates of this innovative programme will be uniquely balanced across two areas – information technology, and the arts and humanities – having studied modules in computer science, digital humanities and an arts subject.

The MA in Digital Arts and Humanities programme serves to introduce students to this dynamic and developing field, and lay the foundations for further research or careers which use digital tools to address creative questions, and produce innovative answers. Topics of study include:standing

  • Digital conservation
  • Digital publishing
  • Social network analysis
  • Literature and the web
  • 3D laser scanning and cataloguing
  • Digital music
  • Data visualisation
  • Data curation
  • … among others

The PhD in Digital Arts and Humanities is a full-time nter-disciplinary structured PhD programme running over 48 months from the date of first registration for the programme.

All belong to Digital Arts and Humanities, an emerging field of research, innovation and invention, joining humanities and arts disciplines with the technology skills necessary for high-level engagement in the contemporary digital environments of industry and academe.
